Who We Are

I feel about vintage (and unique) clothing the same way some people feel about kittens.  I need to find a good home for them all.

It begins with costumes ...

I’ve always loved costumes, and have spent countless hours trolling yard sales and thrift shops, buying prom dresses, uniforms, and anything else that might be fun to wear.   I often found amazing things that were the wrong size, or just weren’t my thing – but that I knew could bring someone else joy.   And that’s really the goal of my business.  Of course, I’d like to make a buck or two, but my real goal is to increase joy.  My joy – and the joy of my customers.  And to give these remarkable garments good “forever homes.”

The blog that isn't a blog

I have an informal costume blog, which really isn’t a blog since I don’t update it often.  There, I have pictures of costumes I’ve put together – with instructions on how I made them – as well as tips and tricks for costuming.  You can find that blog here.

So ... why is the store named after a chicken?

Years ago, my mother began selling books on Amazon.  (Remember when Amazon used to sell books?)  Because she grew up on a chicken hatchery, she named her business Lil’ Chicken Books.  When I began selling vintage clothing online, it was only natural that I name my store Lil’ Chicken Vintage.  I’m hopeful that one day, my neice and nephews will run an entire conglomerate with Lil’ Chicken Hotels, Lil’ Chicken Logistics, and Lil’ Chicken Financial Services.
